Where We Make a Difference

Combating Illegal Fishing

Our analytics help authorities detect suspicious vessel behaviour, dark activity and unauthorized transshipment in near real time.

Protecting Marine Biodiversity

We map critical habitats and fishing pressure to support science-based design of marine protected areas.

Empowering Coastal Communities

Open data tools give small-scale fishers a stronger voice in fisheries policy and resource management.

Field Results

Southeast Asia — A Regional Data Compact

Six nations now share vessel-level data through a common analytics layer, improving coordination on shared stocks and transshipment monitoring.

West Africa — Closing the Enforcement Gap

Coastal patrols reduced at-sea inspection time by 40% by acting on prioritised, evidence-backed vessel alerts.

Pacific Islands — Monitoring Distant Water Fleets

Island states gained independent verification of foreign fleet activity inside their exclusive economic zones.

About

About Fishing Map

An independent ocean intelligence company.

Our Story

Fishing Map was founded in 2019 by Ethan R. Calloway, a former fisheries observer who watched firsthand how missing data let illegal operators go unchallenged. What began as a hand-drawn map of fishing grounds has grown into a global analytics platform.

Today, Fishing Map Ocean Intelligence Ltd. works with governments, research institutions and industry to combine satellite imagery, vessel tracking and artificial intelligence — making ocean activity visible, verifiable and accountable.

Mission

To make every vessel's activity visible and verifiable, providing the evidence base for sustainable ocean governance.

Vision

A world where ocean resources are managed transparently, equitably and sustainably for generations to come.
